GETTING THERE - By air |

The Sri Lanka Air Force operates flights between Ratmalana Air Base and the China Bay Air Base on Mondays and Fridays, departing from Ratmalana at 8:00am, and departing China Bay at 4:00pm. GETTING THERE - By road |
| A five-hour drive along the Colombo-Kandy Highway takes you to Trincomalee on the east coast. It will take longer if you stop at the various tourist attractions along the way, such as the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Dambulla Rock Temple. The historic cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are also accessible en route, while elephant safaris are offered at Habarana. There are excellent hotels at Habarana for an overnight stay, and jeep trips to nearby National Parks are available. Indeed, it is not unusual to see wild elephants grazing by the roads as you drive through. |
